I qualified in 2007 with an MSc in Pre-registration Physiotherapy from Southampton University. I had previously completed a degree in Sport in the Community from Durham University in 2002. The years in between were spent chasing a career in professional cricket, which saw me represent predominantly Surrey, but also Essex and finally Hampshire at 2nd XI level before I decided on a career change, and shortly afterwards I began my Physiotherapy studies at Southampton.
After qualifying as a Physiotherapist, I started work both in private practice and the NHS where I was based with what was then Surrey PCT at their outpatient clinics in Cranleigh, Farnham and Haslemere. In 2011 I moved to a full-time role in private practice at Healthflex Physiotherapy Clinic in Haslemere, where I worked until the Covid pandemic hit in 2020. I then set up my home-based practice where I have worked full time since.
As a clinician I am interested in all aspects of the human musculoskeletal system and place a lot of importance on sound diagnostic skills to make sure patients are quickly heading on a route to recovery, whether that be via physiotherapy or where needed, onward referral to our excellent local orthopaedic consultants with whom I maintain strong links.
Since 2012, I have incorporated diagnostic ultrasound scanning into my clinical assessments after completing specialist training with the Sports Medicine Ultrasound Group in London. This allows detailed, real-time assessment of specific structures such as muscles, ligaments, and tendons directly in the clinic. As a result, injuries can often be identified more quickly and accurately, helping to guide more targeted and effective treatment and rehabilitation.
While I treat the full range of musculoskeletal conditions, I have a particular interest in post- operative rehabilitation following orthopaedic surgery, especially involving the lower limb and shoulder. I also have a strong focus on knee and shoulder injuries, as well as all the common tendon problems we regularly see. I find it especially rewarding to help people recover from injuries arising from all types of activity, from everyday tasks and work to recreational and elite sport. I believe that my personal and professional experience enables me to approach every case with care, understanding, and individual attention.
Outside of physiotherapy, I am married to Michelle, and we have two amazing twin boys. I still maintain a keen interest in sport, but these days it is about general fitness and golf, which I now play at West Surrey Golf Club, off a handicap of 2.
